Values

As a church plant we understand that we are only just starting out on the journey God has for us together in Kirkby. It is early days and our desire is to continuously be a people who are open to the leading of God’s Holy Spirit.

Sometimes people ask us what we believe and what sort of a church we are trying to become. The eight values below are presented as a starting point and are based upon four passages of Scripture. They are not the final word and will inevitably develop and change as time goes by. We have not arrived at anyone of them but together it is our intention to increasingly be:

A church that does everything by the power of the Holy Spirit (see 1 Corinthians 12:1-11)
A church that values every individual, and where everyone is encouraged to fulfil their own unique destiny (see 1 Corinthians 12:14-27)
A church that embraces a lifestyle of wholehearted worship (see Romans 12:1-2)
A church that lives out their faith 24-7 (see Romans 12:3-21)
A church that pursues the unity of the Spirit and makes all necessary effort to maintain good relationships (see Ephesians 4:1-6)
A church that values leadership and welcomes their vital contribution towards health and growth (see Ephesians 4:7-16)
A church that surrounds everything in prayer, and understands prayer as the key to unlocking people and situations (see Colossians 4:2-4)
A church that is outward looking, and is prepared to do whatever is takes to assist people in their journey towards faith (see Colossians 4:5-6)
